Dual Immersion Language Program Models

There are two dominant models: 90:10 and 50:50.

90:10 Model

In Kindergarten and First grade, 10% of instruction is taught in English, while 90% is taught in the target language. In Second grade, an additional 10% is added to instruction in English. The percentage increases gradually until instruction in both languages meets 50:50 by 5th grade. In 90:10, your child begins reading in target language first and adds English later, in Third grade.
